Patatú is a Dominican word used as a reaction when something isn’t happening as expected or is going wrong. This knitted piece is a translation from a community based art system named Picalø, which means “cut it” in Spanish. I created Picalø with the purpose of building a space to nurture communities in a creative way. In this system people are meant to express themselves by creating collage pieces in a collaborative way, where the materials used are fabric waste reclaimed from the fashion industry, as a way of creating awareness about the amount of garment that are being produced today. Patatú reflects how people influence on people within one space. - Credits: Photography: Camilo Flores & Trepelito Model: Francisco Peña
