Miramacerquita is a Spanish words combination that means “take a look a little bit closer”. This wooden reclaimed screen aims to re-evaluate what we define as “waste”. It was a screen with not evident purpose in a corner of a factory waiting to be discarded, which I saved in order to be alive again. When we think about waste, we think about what was left behind, those little pieces that nobody wants, the unneeded part of a project... but what happens when we look at it with a different perspective? What happen when we try to understand what is left behind? Materials. Discriminating materials. What happen when someone is being discriminated? We are not trying to see beyond. We are assuming. What would happen if we take a look a little bit closer?
